At the heart of the Portola Valley Library are people: its staff, patrons, and supporters.

One such person was our library assistant Sherry Markrow, a familiar face and warm presence to countless library patrons. Upon her retirement in the spring of 2020, the Friends held a luncheon in her honor.

In a recent “Blast from the Past,” Lenora Ferro celebrates Pat and Bob Brown and shares some of the library’s history.

Barbara Johnson was a life-long supporter of public schools and libraries, whom we honor for her love of the common good, the environment, and especially, children.

Generations of Portola Valley school children benefited from Louise Hamm’s dedication to developing their love of reading and learning. As a long-time member of the Friends’ board and past president, she created a strong legacy of community service.
